Kildare is a town dominated by two things; horseracing and its connection to St Brigid. The town is probably the centre for horse breeding in Ireland and is ideally located to attend race meetings in nearby, Naas, Punchestown or the Curragh. St Brigid put Kildare on the map in the fifth century when she built a church here and St Brigid’s Cathedral can still be viewed today. Visitors will be glad to hear other facilities are also numerous in the town with some great pubs and restaurants. Its proximity to Dublin is also a bonus as is its convenience to the thriving town of Newbridge. County Kildare also boasts some of the best golf courses in Ireland including Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort |
